Nike Free RN Distance | First Run Review

Think of the Nike Free RN Distance as a mash up of the Free 3.0 and the Lunar Tempo. The Free RN Distance borrows the 4mm heel-toe offset from the Free 3.0, but has more midsole under foot. In fact, the Free RN Distance is 2-3mm thicker in the forefoot than the Free 3.0 and Lunar Tempo. Like other Free shoes, the Free RN Distance has a heavily siped midsole/outsole (thinly cut grooves), which delivers tremendous flexibility. The pattern of siping is multi-directional and similar to the most recent Free shoes. While the center of the midfoot is not siped, and the resultant shapes are larger than other Free shoes, the sensation of flexibility and adaptability seems the same. From the Lunar Tempo, the Free RN Distance borrows a modified, accordion-like midsole structure, which delivers a soft, compliant feel. Furthermore, the Free RN Distance has a Lunar core foam midsole interior, which delivers a much softer feel than any previous Free model. Where some runners may have felt Free shoes lacked ample cushioning for longer runs, the Free RN Distance, with its thicker sole and Lunar cushioning, welcomes longer runs.Similar to other Free Shoes, the Free RN Distance has a close-to-the-foot fit. The midfoot and forefoot are shallow and provide a snug fit for medium to narrow feet. If you have a high instep, thick, full volume feet, or wider feet, this shoe is not going to be a good fit. While the toe-box is shallow, there is more room around the ends of the toes than other Free shoes and the pointy, super shallow Lunar Tempo. Your standard running shoe size should work well for this shoe.Immediately the shoes felt very soft underfoot. The upper felt quite snug in the midfoot and forefoot, but the heel felt loose and there was plenty of length for my toes. Walking around I could feel the arch structure of the shoe. It wasn’t uncomfortable, simply noticeable, which is something I like. The shoes still felt quite soft walking in them, the heel did not slip, and the upper moved well with the foot without having any pressure points or creasing issues.

Frame of the Week: Face a Face Smoking 1 Eyeglasses

By now, you’ve heard all the hype about Face a Face Bocca sunglasses, the super-cool frames that were inspired by the Mae West Lips couch by Salvador Dali. The sexy stiletto heels on the tips of each arm (or leg, really) started out red, then was gradually made available in multiple colors, expansing to include several other styles in a capsule collection, like the above Rock 3! This frame is bold and extreme, with flame-like corners that give the illusion of speed. But the ladies aren’t the only ones who get to have all of the fun around here – Face a Face has come out with a similar male frame featuring tuxedoed legs, white socks, and dress shoes, giving guys the opportunity to be just as playful with their designer eyewear and to turn some heads while they’re at it.Face a Face Bocca Smoking 1 eyeglasses look simple at first glance – square lenses, a flared brow, a structured silhouette, and a classic black color – however, they’re anything but. Although the original Bocca comes with a pair of voluptuous and feminine legs, Smoking 1 has black temples, with all of the excitement in the tip’s detail, where Richelieu shoes are an homage to the classic Smoking jacket by Yves Saint Laurent.

Frame of the Week: CHANEL 5249 Sunglasses

Continuing our preparation for long days in the sun, we present to you another week of fabulous designer sunglasses. This week, our friend Vanessa has chosen a pair of CHANEL 5249 sunglasses in color 714/S5, part of the new 2013 collection from the French fashion house. See how happy she looks? That’s how we like to see each and every one of you before you walk out the door! Doesn’t the tortoise color complement her so well? The square-shaped lenses flatter, too, adding angles to create a balanced look. This glamorous pair of acetate CHANEL sunglasses also features gradient brown lenses and a beautiful metal camellia on each temple, both sides accented with a tiny CC logo on one of the camellia’s petals. While we like that the signature shows our devotion to art and fashion, the logo is subtle enough to give just a hint towards our predilection for the finer frames in life. The 5249 is available in multiple shades to suit your sartorial needs this season – whether you want a teal frame to bring a pop of color to your summer look or a neutral black for a glamorous accessory enviable by any celeb. This style is also offered in a rich blue and deep red. We think the latter two are great choices to pull together a fabulous look for July 4th. Pair with a crisp white blazer and some cutoff jean shorts and you’ll be shining bright this Independence Day.

Nike’s latest four-shoe Free Flyknit aims to have something for every runner

It’s been more than 10 years since the original buy nike free shoes technology was released, which was a large contributor to minimalist shoes winning their place in the spotlight. The recently-unveiled Nike Free Rn Flyknit is the latest in the line’s rich history and is one of four shoes included in Nike‘s latest release.

Canadian Running has had the Free Rn Flyknit and Free Train Force since the shoe’s public release on April 7 and put the two to the test on the roads, on turf and in the gym.The Free Rn Flyknit is in line with what Mens Nike Free 3.0 V3 have looked like in the past but with the added Flyknit technology on the upper and unique cushioning on the sole. It feels like a sock with no rigid heel structure and with minimal seams throughout to limit the risk of blisters.

The Force and Transform, on the other hand, have rigid heels that act as a stabilizer and should be used in the gym or when strength training. Imagine you’re doing squats or dead lifts and you need some heel support– these are the go-to shoes. The Train Force (men) and the Transform (women) provide stability and for that reason, they are a lot better to wear during strength sessions versus regular running shoes.

Runners can try out the shoes for 30 days (if purchased through Nike online or at an official Nike store), put the Frees through the toughest of tests and be able to return them for a full refund if necessary. It doesn’t get much better than that.

The new line of Frees takes into account how one’s foot expands and contracts through landing and takeoff with the use of a multi-directional outsole. Whether you’re moving laterally, likely in the gym, or out on a run, the shoe can handle it.The Nike Free Train Force Flyknit is similar to the LunarEpic Flyknit‘s upper and is easily noticeable because of its sock-like feature that surrounds the ankle as well as the absence of a tongue. The women’s equivalent, the Transform, is low-profiled and wraps around the ankle like a traditional shoe.

The Complete Performance History of the Nike Free

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost ten years since the first new nike free shoes hit the market. The shoe that brought the concept of barefoot running to the mainstream has remained a best seller for the swoosh, equally accepted by athletes and fashionistas alike.

Originally engineered by Tobie Hatfield and Eric Avar, the Free was first inspired by Stanford athletes that were training barefoot on the university’s golf course. Taking this study back to the Nike campus, in 2002 a group of men and women examined wearing pressure-measuring insoles taped to their feet and captured their data with high speed cameras to study the foot in motion. The result of an eight year extensive study yielded the understanding of a “natural” landing stride, demanding a new running shoe from the brand with minimal heel to toe offset, unconventional shape, and a super Phylon flexible outsole.

Perhaps considered a redemption shoe for many runners of past generations, the Mens Nike Free 5.0 V4 is a landmark shoe for the brand that sustained many running myths over the past few decades including a raised heel or excessive cushioning and overlays. The original Free from 2004 transitioned from the brand’s approach to barefoot running to eventually accommodate training to become everyone’s favorite coffee shop runner today, here is The Complete Performance History of the Nike Free.

Nike Is Selling $250 Running Shoes

When adidas and Nike announced separate sub-two-hour marathon attempts less than a week apart in December, the obvious question was: why now? One answer was: to sell shoes.

The record-attempt-as-shoe-ad theory bore out nicely today. Nike’s PR firm sent out a 476-word release to journalists this morning; more than two-thirds of the words and all of the attached images were dedicated towards the two pairs of trainers that Nike is selling in conjunction with Breaking2, one of which costs $250 and the other of which costs $150. In one paragraph at the end, it is mentioned that the actual sub-2:00 attempt will be held on a 2.4K Grand Prix racing track in Monza, Italy.

In a series of reports around the initial announcements, the ?Wall Street Journal ?pointed out two things about Nike Free Run Sale specifically and the industry in general. ?

Why Nike:

“Nike has faced increased competition from rivals Adidas and Under Armour. In October, analysts at Bank of America Merrill Lynch downgraded the company’s stock amid concerns of a so-called “innovation gap” in Nike’s product pipeline relative to competitors. Nike shares have fallen roughly 18% for the year through close of trading on Monday.”

(Nike stock is up roughly 4% since the week of the announcement in December.)

And why Nike ?and ?adidas:?

“In recent years, Nike and Adidas have operated in an increasingly competitive market, not only for sports marketing influence but in sales of sportswear. The rise of so-called athleisure has brought more competitors into the mix and sales of casual, fashion-forward shoes have risen faster than performance-oriented sneakers.

Those conditions have put more pressure on the likes of Nike and Adidas to reignite sales of performance gear. ‘A pendulum swing in fashion preference from performance towards lifestyle fashion athletic footwear has contributed to a bearish sentiment on Nike,’ wrote Stifel analyst Jim Duffy earlier this week.”buy nike free shoes
